I've been craving coffee a lot recently, and having it black has been a little too much for me.

I sure do love that stuff. Who else has tried it? There have probably been a million posts on here about it that I missed. If so, oops. I missed grilled cheese so much!

Hi folks! You may remember several months ago I posted about a project I was working on. Sadly one of the people doing it left, which made us grind to a halt (since he had all the code on his servers). Anyway, after an additional team member and lots of hard work I present to you all:
Wiki Veganica!
There's not much there now, but please sign up and edit! Wikipedia was not built in a day!
If you would like to work on this project more in depth than an average user, please let me know (especially any tech oriented folks, graphic designers, and highly organized persons). Also if creating and editing pages is too hard/too much work for you but you have things you think should be in there (letters from companies about if things are vegan, well-researched info, etc.), please also send those my way!
I have wanted a community-edited vegan wiki for years so now here we go!

Does anyone else get excited when real life actors have an effect on their tv persona? By this I mean when an actor uses their pull to effect the way their character in shown to promote veg*n lifestyles? I could only think of vegetarian examples, but here are some off the top of my head:
* Casey Kasem (vegan in real life) refusing to voice Shaggy until the show made him a strict vegetarian.
* Dr. Temperance Brennen on the TV show Bones (Emily DeSchanel-vegan in real life) turning vegetarian.
* In a recent episode, Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein - vegetarian in real life) on House comes home from a stressful day and her boyfriend made her eggplant parm.
can anybody think of any others?

How long does almond milk last after it's opened? I just bought some Almond Breeze almond milk. It has an expiration date on the carton, but doesn't state how long it last after opening.
Also, this is my first time trying almond milk. Do you guys no of any better brands or less expensive ones?

Weight gain foods/recommendations anyone? I'm pretty sure I'm near to hitting underweight for my height and I just haven't been feeling in the mood to stuff myself or anything. So I need some high calorie recommendations.
Also if anyone has any favorite potato or sweet potato recipes that'd be helpful too. I've been doing a lot of just microwave potatoes out of laziness. I also haven't found any decent vegan sour cream recipes. Do they exist?
In return, Spicy Orange Yams (which I've also been making quite a bit lately). They're really easy and healthy. (Off of VegNews)
2 tablespoons non-hydrogenated margarine, melted
Juice of 2 oranges (1/2 to 3/4 cup)
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
5 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
1/2 cup pecans, toasted (garnish)
What You Do:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients and stir until well combined. Add the sliced potatoes, stir well, and transfer to a lightly oiled 9x13 baking dish.
2. Cover and bake until the sweet potatoes are just tender, about 40 minutes. Stir once or twice during that time to distribute the liquid over the potatoes. Uncover, and bake until the glaze thickens, about 10 to 15 minutes. Keep warm and sprinkle with pecans before serving.

Hey all--
So it looks like I will be ringing in 2010 without wisdom teeth- that's right, extraction time! Long story short, it looks like it'll be minor surgery (impacted!), and I know there are going to be a few days where I'll be depending on soup and smoothies, if I want to eat at all.
Normally, I'd make a big batch or two of soup in advance, freeze it and be good to go. Tricky part? Staying with my mother who tries, but isn't too savvy (you mean you can't just have the broth? even if there isn't any meat in it?)- I know she'd be willing to buy me progresso or something, but I'd rather have homemade...
So, what are some super easy/basic soups/smoothies that are nutrient-rich and with limited chewing? Slurp-ing only type soups? I was thinking of making a miso soup, and I should still have leftovers of the butternut squash soup (pureed) I'm making for XMas appetizer... Maybe a lentil? Or split pea?

My acne is absolutely out of control.
I'm thirty years old and have struggled with severe acne since my teens. But a year before I went vegan, my dermatologist and I finally found a combination of treatments that resulted in much, much better skin. I went on Aviane birth control pills, I took Doxycycline daily, and I used Tetronoin cream daily as well.
After I went vegan, I dumped all of those medications. The Aviane is totally not vegan as they contain animal hormones. The Doxycyline capsules have gelatin on them, and I don't know about the ingredients in the Tetronoin cream, but all three are FDA approved and therefore have been tested on animals countless times.
I can't remember where I'd read it. I think it was on here, but nobody tagged it, so I can't find the post. Someone suggested washing your face with salt to draw out the infection, then applying tea tree oil and lavender oil. I've been doing that, but I'm an absolute mess.
Does anybody have any other ideas of what might help? By the way, my skin is on the dry side. After being oily for years, I guess age caught up with me, and I'm drying out like a mummy.
Thanks in advance for any advice y'all might have.

I totally forgot all my vegan cookbooks when I came to my parents for the holidays! Quick guys - what are you favourite recipes from Veganomicon, Eat Drink and Be Vegan and My Sweet Vegan? Don't be afraid to include cold dishes - I'm in Australia so I won't be having a lot of hot food this Xmas. Thanks sooo much!

I'm trying to make a coat for this winter, but I'm having trouble finding a vegan yarn that's really warm. The closest I've got is Blue Skies Cotton; does anyone have a suggestion?
Thank you!
Thank you!
